Verses that keep me going - Hebrews 10:24–25

 The Bible tells us that there needs to be unity and fellowship among believers.

And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. Hebrews 10:24–25

It also tells us that believers need each other for encouragement.

But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness. Hebrews 3:13

Satan loves for believers to have pride in their own strength - thinking they can resist temptation without help. But if the above verse is true, without encouragement from others there's a danger of being deceived and ending up hardened by sin. 

Scripture often refers to the church as a body and makes it clear that for any part to think that it doesn't need the rest of the body is foolish. 

 If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be?...  The eye cannot say to the hand, “I don’t need you!” And the head cannot say to the feet, “I don’t need you!” 1 Corinthians 12:17–21

 The German philosopher Schopenhauer compared the human race to a prickle of porcupines huddling together on a cold winter’s night. He said, “The colder it gets outside, the more we huddle together for warmth; but the closer we get to one another, the more we hurt one another with our sharp quills. And in the lonely night of earth’s winter eventually we begin to drift apart and wander out on our own and freeze to death in our loneliness.”

Because this is true there are numerous verses that urge us to be forgiving and patient with each other.

Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. Colossians 3:13

A common reason people leave their church is to avoid seeing someone they dislike or disagree with or someone who has hurt them. If they choose to remain in the church, it often causes division and damages the reputation of the church. 

There was some division in the church at Philippi that Paul referred to in his letter, urging these women to reconcile. In those days there usually wasn't another local church to switch to, so it was crucial for these problems to be resolved.

I plead with Euodia and I plead with Syntyche to be of the same mind in the Lord. Philippians 4:2

No church is perfect, but every church has possibility of the Holy Spirit's power to achieve forgiveness and reconciliation through agape love.

Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.
